Another accolade for Würth IT’s innovative strength: At the German (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) SME Summit on June 26 in Heidelberg, the company received the TOP 100 award. This seal of approval honors Germany’s most innovative small and medium-sized enterprises every year. Christian Wulff, former Federal President and mentor of the competition, personally congratulated the award-winning companies.

In the scientific selection process, Würth IT stood out in Size Class C (more than 200 employees in Germany), particularly in the category “Top Management Promoting Innovation.” This marks the fourth time the company has been named among the TOP 100 innovators. The innovation competition was held for the 33rd time this year.

Company Profile Highlights Substantive Commitment to Innovation

The TOP 100 company profile published to mark the award states:

Würth IT deliberately used the upcoming SAP migration within the Würth Group as a strategic opportunity to further develop its system landscape—which had grown over the years—to make it fit for the future. Business and IT worked closely together to determine which processes and data would best support the Group in the future. Approximately 5,500 test users were actively involved in this change process and helped ensure that requirements were incorporated into the new system landscape at an early stage.

By involving test users in its change process, this medium-sized company has laid the groundwork for a harmonized and future-proof digital foundation. At the same time, the project evolved far beyond a mere technical migration into a profound transformation. The overarching goal was clear: 44,000 people worldwide should enjoy working with the new systems every day.

Global Matrix Organization

At Würth IT, however, innovation is evident not only in such transformation projects but also in the organization itself. Since 2020, the company has been building a global IT matrix organization with regional hubs and functional focus areas. This approach pools international expertise while simultaneously developing solutions that remain closely aligned with business requirements. An example from the sales department of a company within the Würth Group illustrates just how effective this approach is in practice: Until now, price data from various sources had to be manually entered into an SAP transaction—a time-consuming and error-prone process. This gave rise to the idea for a bot that fully automates these data entries. The solution was developed by Würth IT in India. Thus, a specific on-site need gave rise to a solution that exemplifies the company’s commitment to innovation: practical, developed internationally, and delivering tangible benefits in day-to-day operations.

Young Professionals with Responsibility

Part of Würth IT’s culture of innovation is entrusting young professionals with responsibility early on. In international project teams, they work on digital applications, further develop existing formats, and evaluate new solutions for use within the company. In this way, the company consciously incorporates diverse perspectives into its digital projects while simultaneously strengthening the next generation of internationally connected IT talent.
